What Does Our Name Mean?
In 1998 as the church's leadership sought the Lord for guidance and direction, the name "Elijah Gate" was impressed upon Pastor Eddy.
The book of Revelation says that the prophet Elijah would be instrumental in the days preceding the return of the Lord. Elijah was a major prophet who displayed a supernatural demonstration of God's power. Also, throughout the Bible, a gate symbolizes an entrance, power, and authority.
Thus, the name God impressed upon Pastor Eddy signified that our congregation would operate in the spirit of Elijah. Not only would we be an entrance, or opening, for God's power to flow from heaven to earth, but we would also be an entrance to God's love and power through which those desiring to turn their lives to Christ could enter.
"And he shall go forth before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a
people prepared for the Lord"
Luke 1:17
